Hi there, I’m so excited to match with you. My Ao3 username is hauntedd and I’ve participated in Yuletide for like 10 years now and also am one half of the Misses Clause Challenge. I think what I enjoy the most about Yuletide is probably the variety of prompts and fic that comes out of it and I’m sure that whatever you come up with will only further my enjoyment of the exchange.
Here’s a short list of my wants and DNWs:
General Dislikes:
• Second Person POV (I’m also not too keen on First Person, but it depends on the situation. Second Person is a deal breaker).
• Non-Canon-Based AUs (so the coffee shops, the book stores, the high school/college AUs etc.)
• PWP – Totally fine with smut as part of the story, but I tend to gravitate toward plot more than anything else.
* Fluff – sorry, total angst fiend.
* Incest
* G!P, Futanari, and/or A/B/O.
* Homophobia (except I don’t care what you do with the Trump request, you’ll see in a sec)
* Epistolary fic
* Issue-Fic
• Crossovers
* Polyamory
* Watersports/Scat (again I legit do not care what you do with the Trump request, but otherwise no thanks.)
Now that that’s out of the way, let’s move on to what I like!
General Likes:
• Three dimensional & complicated female characters. I'm basically all about women in my fic preferences.
• Moral ambiguity that’s explored and fleshed out. Making the tough choices. The idea that no one is good or evil, and that everyone is the hero of their own story.
• Complicated and messy familial, friend, or sexual relationships. A & B forced to work together despite hating each other/A burning B in the past = win.
• Power dynamics & how people navigate them.
• Angst
* Dark!Fic – I really love when you see the darker and grittier side of the characters in fic
• AUs that veer off of canon – I love that stuff. Like what if X had happened instead of Y. LOVE.
• Character growth & understanding characters’ motivations/backstory. I adore this when it’s done well.
* Third person POV
* Female relationships and female friendships. Absolutely paramount to me.
Prompts:
1. 21st Century Politics RPF – Trump, Putin
GUYS. I know I’m kind of Doing Yuletide Wrong with this, but it’s been 10 years of doing Yuletide Right and I… really am just going with it.
Now, hear me out.
I WANT THE TRUMP/PUTIN MY IMMORTAL. Yes, Donnie D’Arkness Dementia Raven Way whining about Libz while fantasizing about Vladdy, the Russian Vampire.
If My Immortal doesn’t interest you, might I suggest Trump and Vladdy as South Park’s Sadaam and Satan? Perhaps golden showers in the kremlin?
Let’s be real for a sec. Mocking Trump is literally the only reason I requested this, as I fucking hate him and everything he stands for. I know this is kind of doing Yuletide wrong, and I’m sorry? But I hope that you’re still with her like I am and have a sick sense of humor. Also feel free to ignore any do not wants at the top, especially watersports, as the rumored Russia tape involved them, so whatever you need to do.
But what I DO NOT WANT: racism, MAGA bullshit, misogyny, Nazis....basically anything that takes Trump and his bullshit seriously/as an endorsement is a hard fucking no.
2. The Americans (TV) – Paige Jennings, Elizabeth Jennings
Ok I finally started watching the Americans this year. I’m OBSESSED.
Specifically, I really love Elizabeth and her dynamic with Paige. While I ship Phillip/Elizabeth, I’m more interested in the dynamic between mother and daughter. The similarities and differences between them – how Paige feels about her heritage, the added tension of raising a teenager who could ruin their lives.
To that end, I’d love something that explores the two of them. Maybe Paige gets dragged further in and goes on missions? How do her parents really feel about that? How does Paige feel about that?
Or maybe Paige rebels and outs her parents to Stan. What happens then?
What happens if Paige kills someone? What does that do to her?
Or: Paige as a young-ish adult, out of college. Where are they now.
If none of these grab you – I also would love to see Elizabeth in a spy mission where she seduces a woman. But not in a soft way, in a very Elizabeth way. You don’t have to include Paige & Phillip if you go with this idea.
At the time of writing this I’m like halfway into season 4, but I plan to be all caught up by the end of October, so feel free to write whatever grabs you and ignore what got Jossed by canon.
UPDATE: totally caught up through season 5.
3. The Magicians (TV): Julia Wicker, Kady Orloff-Diaz, Marina Andrieski
I only really watch The Magicians for Julia, Marina (rip), and Kady. That sounds kind of terrible, but the three of them are the kinds of characters I love and it makes up for having to suffer through Quentin. The rest of them are ok, but… if I’m being honest, I’m Wickoff & Hedge Witch trash.
Ultimately this is a show about magic. There’s a lot of places you can go here. I’m pretty open to them all, except Fillory as I prefer the real-world magic. I ship both Wickoff and Marina/Julia pretty hardcore and would love to see something hella tropey (soulmates, body swap, bound together etc etc) with either one of those two because they’re not characters who would take very kindly to that.
I’d also like to see something from one of the other timelines where Julia is a student at Brakebills. What does that mean? I mean, yeah, Quentin dies in all of those timelines but *cough* I don’t care about that (sorry, can’t stand him at ALL).
OR. More Hedgewitch backstory. How did Marina become so powerful? What would’ve happened if Julia hadn’t been kicked out?
4. Black Mirror: San Junipero – Kelly and Yorkie
San Junipero was easily the best thing on television all last year. EASILY. All I want is more Kelly/Yorkie. I know that some people think that shorter prompts mean less interest, but I can assure you this is not the case. I love these characters, I love this world, I want all the San Junipero stuff especially if there’s some angst in the afterlife as they both adjust to Heaven on Earth. All I ask is that they’re together in the end.
5. Sweet Vicious – Kennedy, Ophelia, and Jules
Okay, this show man, this show. We could have had it all, but unfortunately MTV sucks. But I loved this show, I sat in on panels about this show at Austin TV Fest, I pimped it to everyone who would let me talk their ear off about it.
But, enough about my love and affection for it. What I want from you, should we match on this, is any of the following: case fic, post-finale fic, fic that leads up to what Jen said the ending would be (had she been able to get more seasons) where Ophelia takes the fall for Jules, fic that delves deeper into Ophelia’s fractured relationship with her mother. I am pretty open on the ship spectrum here – canon ships, Juphelia, Kennedy/Ophelia, Kennedy/Jules, Jules/Harris etc etc. The only real hard passes are poly ships and Ophelia and Harris, as I see their relationship as sibling-esque.
So again, thank you in advance for what you’ll come up with. I hope these prompts are helpful to you and inspire you. We both matched because we have a shared love of the characters I requested so I’m sure what you come up with will be amazing.
